SR. CONTROLLERSHIP ASSOCIATE AT AMERIPRISE FINANCIAL, INC.

​About Organization: Ameriprise Financial, Inc. is a diversified financial services company and bank holding company incorporated in Delaware and headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It provides financial planning products and services, including wealth management, asset management, insurance, annuities, and estate planning.

In 2019, over 85% of the company's revenues came from wealth management.

The company's primary subsidiaries include Ameriprise Financial Services, RiverSource Life Insurance Company, and Columbia Threadneedle Investments, its global asset management brand, and a provider of investments to institutional and retail clients.

Ameriprise was formerly a division of American Express, which completed the corporate spin-off of the company in September 2005.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Majorly responsible to handle the complete AP process, Indirect Taxation & Audit.

  • Keep financial records and establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using manual and computerized software and

  • ERP like SAP Ariba, Work Day Financials, Oracle PeopleSoft, etc.

  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers, prepare other statistical, financial, and accounting reports, monthly trackers & dashboards.

  • Process vendor invoices and employee expense reports, calculate and prepare cheques for payroll, utility, tax, and other vendor bills as per TAT.

  • Prepare tax returns, payments, necessary paperwork, and perform other bookkeeping services. Keep track of industry trends and changes related to taxes along with statutory compliances.

  • Accountable for recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets (both tangible and intangible), tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets.

  • Offer support and guidance during audits by preparing schedules and financials and coordinating activities of external auditors.

December 2015 - December 2018

ACCOUNTING COORDINATOR AT CONVERGYS CORPORATION

About Organization: Convergys Corporation was a corporation based in Cincinnati, Ohio, that sold customer management and information management products, primarily to large corporations. Customer management products included agent-assisted, self-service, and care software tailored to the communications, financial services, technology, retail, healthcare, and government markets. Information management provided convergent billing and business support system (BSS) products and services including revenue management, product, and order management, and customer care management to telecom, utilities, and cable/satellite/broadband service providers. They had approximately 130,000 employees across 33 countries.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility to prepare and filling of Direct and Indirect Tax returns, assist accounts payable, accounts receivable processes, and other bookkeeping services.

  • Prepare and filing of tax returns on regular events of 5 business units across the country PAN India, maintaining statements for audits.

  • Ensure we comply with regulations by forwarding required information to federal, state, and local authorities.

  • Regularly reviewing systems and making updates and improvements where necessary. Identifying areas where businesses can reduce tax, make claims and increase profit.

  • Successfully Adapted and implemented to the new indirect tax regime.

  • Liaising with the Taxation Office and other regulatory bodies when required to process GST & Service Tax refunds and replying to Assessment orders issued.

JUNIOR PRODUCT SUPPORT AT HCL TECHNOLOGIES

  • Assist customers of British Telecom UK, by providing Excellent Customer Service. Helping them, with Order Provisioning, Order cancelation, delayed orders, expedites, etc.

  • Answer calls professionally to provide information about products and services, take/ cancel orders, or obtain details of complaints.

  • Keep records of customer interactions and transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, and comments, as well as actions, are taken. Process orders, forms, and applications.

  • Follow up to ensure that appropriate actions were taken on customers' requests.

  • Refer unresolved customer grievances or special requests to designated departments for further investigation.

ACCOMPLISHMENT

What I’ve Achieved

With over 10+ years of experience and proven knowledge of accounting expertise, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and taxation I have built a reputation for enhancing the performance of finance departments.
My key successes during my career include:

Increased Revenue

Increased revenue of ~ USD 1.5M by getting Tax claims and liaison with the Income Tax Department with minimal involvement of consultants.

Additional Savings

In-house implementation of new indirect tax regime (GST) which saved ~ USD 160 thousand in two years.

Process Improvement

Enhanced the efficiency of the financial accounting process by actively testing and assisting in the implementation of new accounting ERP software Oracle PeopleSoft, Workday Financials, and SAP Ariba (Procure to Pay) in a span of two years.

Strong Ethics Lead to Decrease Expenses

Saved ~ INR 1 Million by following due diligence during vendor invoice processing. Following ethics and maintaining integrity.

Met SLA's of Month & Year End Closing - Virtually 

Timely processing month-end activities along with closing books at year-end virtually without missing SLA’s.
